RGUHS Regional Centre in Mangaluru to be completed by Sept 2026
MANGALURU — The Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS) regional centre in Mangaluru is set to be completed by September 2026, announced Sharanaprakash Rudrappa Patil, Minister of Medical Education and Skills Development.
Patil shared this update after visiting the construction site at Maryhill. The foundation stone was laid in January, with construction starting two months ago. The Rs 49 crore project will span 1.3 lakh square feet and include skill labs, a sports arena, and administrative offices.
According to the project plan, the basement will serve as parking and house the centre office. Each of the ground, first, and second floors will feature a skill lab, with the second floor also accommodating an auditorium. The third floor is designated for indoor games and a gym, while the fourth floor will have a multipurpose court for basketball, volleyball, and three badminton courts. Skill labs will cover 60,000 square feet of the facility. Similar centres have been completed in Kalaburagi and Davanagere.
Earlier, Patil launched the Dr Raghavendra Rao Centre for Future Skills at Srinivas University’s Valachil campus, in collaboration with the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) and Ethnotech Academy. He highlighted the importance of vocational and skill-based education in transforming the future and stressed equipping youth with advanced technical skills, foreign language proficiency, and extra-curricular training to make students industry-ready.
