Home Minister Dr. G Parameshwar said that the government aims to provide residential houses for 80 percent of the police personnel of the state by 2025.
He spoke while answering the questions of MLAs in the session of the Legislative Assembly on Tuesday.
Earlier, when I was the Home Minister, I had planned to build 10 to 15,000 Police accommodation houses in the state by 2020. The subsequent government continued the project. Residential houses will be constructed in rural areas and where there is need. He said that residential houses have already been constructed for 40 percent of the staff. 12 new residential houses are proposed to be constructed in Honnali Taluk Nyamithi. The wife and children of the late H. Basavarajappa, who had given 2.26 acres of land to the police station, have approached the High Court seeking an additional compensation of Rs.45 lakh. He has already been given a compensation of Rs.53.92 lakh rupees. On answering the question raised by MLA Shantanagowda, Home Minister Dr. G Parameshwara said that the construction of residential houses will be started as soon as the court order comes. Proposal for a new fire station in the budget: There have been requests from the legislators to build a new fire station in many taluk centers of the state. Dr. G. Parameshwa said that considering these requests, he will submit a proposal to the Chief Minister to build a new fire station in the next budget.
