The guarantee schemes of the state government, the hard work of activists and leaders are the reason for my victory. I will continue the people's work and development work in the constituency,  said K Rajasekhara Hitnal, the winning Congress candidate from the Koppal Lok Sabha constituency.

The family of Hitnal, who had lost three times in a row in Koppal constituency, now has a smile of victory in the fourth attempt. K Rajasekhara Hitnal has defeated BJP candidate Dr. K Basavaraja by a margin of 45,000 votes.

K Rajashekar Hitnal lost to Basavaraja in 2014. In 2019, also Rajasekhara Hitnal was defeated. By winning this battle, the Hitnal family escaped a hat-trick of defeats.

It was depicted as a Lingayat versus Kuruba fight in the Koppal constituency. Lingayat candidates have won more. In 1991, Siddaramaiah, who had contested for the Koppal Lok Sabha, also lost. Basavaraja Patil of the Lingayat Samaj, who contested against him had won.

After many years, we have hoisted the Congress flag in Koppal. Congress has won because of everyone's hard work. Minister Shivraj Thangadagi said that a new history has been created through this.

People have slapped MLA Janardhana Reddy on the forehead by giving maximum votes to Congress in Gangavati. I have said earlier that pre-election polls are false. The exit poll which was aired till yesterday was called Modi's exit poll and stung the BJP.
