In accordance with the above, the Administrative Medical Officer organized the anti-malaria month under the chairmanship of Dr Sujatha in the Primary Health Huilagola area.
“Mosquitoes spread many diseases such as malaria, dengue, chikungunya, encephalitis and elephantiasis, and such diseases can be prevented if mosquitoes are controlled. Therefore, the public should be aware of mosquito breeding sites and take care of mosquito eradication,” said Manjunath Jalihala, Health Inspector.
Malaria is one of the diseases spread by mosquitoes. It is transmitted through a microbe called Plasmodia. The female Anopheles mosquito bites a malaria-infected person and sucks blood and bites a healthy person, which spreads from one person to another. The symptoms of malaria include first chills, then extreme fever, and finally relief from sweating. These symptoms are repeated. During this period, a blood smear can be taken and tested to confirm malaria. When malaria is confirmed, taking pramaquine tablets for 14 days will completely cure it. The reason is that the public should get a blood smear from a health worker or ASHA worker if they have any fever.
Primary Health Center Huigol Health Inspector Nagaraj Joshi said that in order to completely control malaria, let's focus on eliminating malaria by 2025, build a malaria-free society and end malaria for good. He said that in addition to keeping the environment around the house clean, mosquitoes lay eggs in stagnant water in and around the house. To reduce the number of mosquitoes, it is necessary to ensure that there is no stagnant water in the environment and around the house.
He said that when it comes to spraying DDT, it should be sprayed inside the house. He said that a blood test should be done through RDT at a nearby government hospital.
