Protests erupted in Mysuru on Monday against veteran actor Kamal Haasan over his controversial remarks on the Kannada language. Led by Kannada Chaluvali Vatal Paksha President Vatal Nagaraj, demonstrators held placards with Kamal's photos and shouted slogans demanding an unconditional apology. Vatal Nagaraj condemned the actor’s claim that Kannada originated from Tamil, calling it a display of ignorance. “Kannada is one of the oldest languages in the world,” he asserted. He further warned that unless Kamal Haasan apologizes to Kannadigas, his films will face a ban in Karnataka. The protest highlighted ongoing linguistic sensitivities and the strong cultural pride associated with regional languages.
