Charukirthi Swamiji praises growth of Jain settlement

The work of the Tourism Department in developing Jain basadis and preserving them in the historically famous Lakkundi village, which has 101 temples and 101 kalyanis, is commendable, said Charukirti Bhattacharya Panditacharya Swamiji of Shravanabelagola.

Speaking after viewing the ancient monuments at Lakkundi, the seer said, it is known from history books that there are many ancient monuments in this area, and it is commendable that the Tourism Department. Lakkundi Development Authority, and the Archaeological Department are taking the initiative to protect them.Jain century has been a tradition for millions of years. His doctrines say that there will be 24 Tirthankaras from the past to the future, he said.

The dignitaries visited the Brahmajinalaya, Naganath, Nanneshwar, Kashi Vishwanath and the muscum of sculptures and antiquities at Muskinabhavi and learned about the history of sculpture from historian AD Kattimaniya.

Lakkundi Development Authority Commissioner Sharanu Gogeri explained the development work undertaken by the government regarding the monuments, archaeological remains and excavations being developed here.

Charukirthi Bhattacharya and Aminabhaviya Dharmasena Pattadhyaksha of Varur were honored by Siddalingeshwar Patil, state member of the Lakkundi Development Authority.

Tourism Department Director Kotresha Vibhuti. Gadag District Jain Samaj President BA Kulkarni, Ajappa Gowda Pant, former Gram Panchayat member Annappa Basti were present.

Jain inscriptions, idols and sculptures are prominent among the relics found in Lakkundi, said Charukiri Bhattacharya swami. India has been a rich country unce ancient omes and Jain temples and monuments can be seen all over the country. The sculpture culture here was the home of the Jain kings. “In Kannada terature, Pampa Ranna Ponna and Channa have made their invaluabic contribute to Kannada. It is everyone's duty se preserve and promits het heritage and culture of the Jains,” he said.
