Potholes Widened by Monsoon Rains, Motorists Struggle in Belagavi
Belagavi
Monsoon rains have caused numerous potholes on Belagavi’s main roads, severely troubling motorists. Every year, this recurring issue sparks public frustration as complaints to authorities seem ignored. Particularly, the service road near Gandhi Nagar bridge, adjacent to the national highway, has deteriorated badly, posing danger to commuters.
This crucial route connects Belagavi with cities like Bangalore, Hubballi-Dharwad, and Bagalkot, and provides access to Sambra Airport. Despite its importance, the road remains neglected. Pre-monsoon rains over the past week worsened the situation, and potholes have become a yearly problem near Gandhi Nagar.
Residents, including citizen Duryodhan, express anger that potholes remain unrepaired for years, causing ongoing hardship. Many question the negligence of the Public Works Department and Municipal Corporation, suggesting timely repairs last month could have prevented the current crisis.
Waterlogging and potholes are also rampant in other areas such as the fruit market, Port Road, Ayodhya Nagar, Sadashiva Nagar, APMC Road, Post Office Road, Udyog Bagh, and Hindalaga Road. Internal roads are equally affected, disrupting pedestrian safety and vehicle movement.
The public urges authorities to take immediate preventive and repair measures to ensure safer roads ahead of the full monsoon season.
