Positive Thinking For Starting Mysore Paper Mills, Minister MB Patil
Belagavi
The government has positively thought about the resumption of the Mysore Paper Mills (MPM) in Bhadravati, Minister for Large and Medium Industries and Infrastructure Development MB Patil said in the Legislative Council on Tuesday.
Answering the point question of member S Rudregowda, he said that the Mysore Paper Mills was facing severe financial problem and all the production units were shut down from 21-11-2015 and the total accumulated loss at the end of June 2023 was Rs 1482 crore.
The government concluded that the revival of the factory was not possible and decided to give the operation of the factory to the private sector on contract basis, utilizing the services of IDEC. Since the RFQ was pre-uploaded by the company as publicity for the RFQ and already widely issued Request for Proposal (RFP) was uploaded directly on November 25, 2020, no proposals were received when the e-tender was opened.
The prospective bidder wants to run the company's operations with exemption from MPM for growing eucalyptus and no liabilities. Accordingly, the government will have to take a decision on exemptions to MPM and pending liabilities of Rs 1,102 crores for growing Eucalyptus.
