Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Council, Chalavadi Narayanaswamy, has alleged that Congress leaders are trying to suppress BJP supporters who are active on social media.

Speaking to the media after offering his final respects to BJP worker Vinay Somaiah in Bengaluru, Narayanaswamy said Vinay’s suicide raises serious concerns. Vinay, a native of Madikeri, ended his life after reportedly facing harassment from supporters of Congress MLAs.

“The misuse of power by Congress leaders and MLAs is increasing,” he stated. “Earlier, PSI Parashuram died by suicide after naming Yadgir MLA Chennareddy. In Belagavi, Rudranna Yadavanna blamed a close aide of Minister Lakshmi Hebbalkar before taking his life. Another officer, Chandrashekhar, died by suicide after naming Valmiki Development Corporation President Basanagouda Daddal and Minister B. Nagendra. None of these cases have been properly investigated,” he said.

He further alleged that although Vinay was granted bail, the police continued to threaten him with re-arrest and even warned of opening a rowdy sheet against him. “That’s why Vinay clearly mentioned in his death note that he was ending his life due to pressure,” Narayanaswamy said.

He demanded immediate arrest of all those mentioned in Vinay Somaiah’s death note, including the concerned MLAs.
