In a significant development, Dr. Huligemma Kukanur, Deputy Director of the Women and Child Development Department, and Muttanna C.A., Child Development Project Officer (CDPO), have been suspended for dereliction of duty based on the instructions of Minister Lakshmi Hebbalkar.

This action follows revelations about the illegal storage of nutritional materials intended for Anganwadi beneficiaries at a food warehouse near Gattur Cross in Old Hubbali. The materials in question, including toor dal, horse gram, jaggery, sugar, and wheat flour, had been hoarded improperly, prompting disciplinary measures against the involved officials.

Upon receiving credible information regarding the illegal stockpiling, district officials conducted inspections at the site and discovered approximately ₹4 lakh worth of food items intended for Anganwadi services. A complaint has been lodged at the Kasabapete police station to take action against those responsible for this wrongdoing. Minister Lakshmi Hebbalkar has directed that appropriate measures be taken against the guilty parties and has ordered a comprehensive investigation into the matter.

Speaking on the issue, she stated, "The case has come to light in Hubbali. We are in the process of forming an investigation team through the Zilla Panchayat. Orders for this will be issued today. Eighteen Anganwadi workers have already been implicated, and some arrests have been made. The government is also issuing directives to ensure accountability."

The investigation will focus on the extent of involvement of Anganwadi workers and supervisors in this case, as well as on any additional illegal activities. The police have initiated a case, leading to arrests and judicial custody for some individuals, and further suspensions are anticipated.
