Nurses must update their Knowledge continuously: Dr Ranjan Shetty

Nursing is a noble profession and dignity must be maintained. They must update their knowledge continuously in effective discharge of their work, said Dr Ranjan Shetty, Medical Director of Sparsh Group of Hospitals.
He was speaking at lamp lighting and graduation of DGNM and B.Sc (Nursing) students held at MVJ School and College of Nursing in Hoskote.
Nursing students must have greater tradition of living along with enthusiasm, committed in discharge of responsibilities. Nurses play a prominent role in forming a good healthy community along with Doctors. They have to understand the difficulties of people and try to solve them with affection. They must be compassionate, emphatic and show sympathy towards patients, he said.
Chairman of MVJ Group of Institutions Dr MJ Mohan said, having established the institution in 1993, successfully overcome the competition in the field, and has achieved tremendous progress. Experienced teaching fraternity are guiding the students for good progress and build bright future. Having a 1000 bedded hospital in the same campus helps to get good practical training from experienced, professional doctors, he said.
Principal of MVJ School and College of Nursing Prof Priscilla Nirmal said that the institution has so far provided 3000 skilled and dedicates nurses to the society. Continuing Nursing Education Programme is also organized for enhancing knowledge. 9 students have obtained 32 ranks in RGUHS, which reflects the quality of education provided, she said.
Suparna Sarkar was adjudged best outstanding student in academics and awarded MV Jayaram Gold Medal.

Students must continue to have the knowledge of achievement in science. The Nursing College has been approved by RGUHS, to enhance the admission from the present 100 to 250 based on the infrastructure available, said Dr MJ Mohan, Chairman of MVJ Group of Institutions.
