Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar has asserted that the MUDA case is a conspiracy orchestrated by the BJP and JD(S), stating that it will not persist for long. Speaking near his residence in Sadashivanagar, he reacted to the Lokayukta's submission of a B-report that cleared Chief Minister Siddaramaiah of any wrongdoing in this case.

“I had said from the beginning that this was a politically motivated allegation. How can Siddaramaiah be implicated when there is no signature of his on any document? It is natural for those who have lost property to seek compensation—it is the same for us. MUDA officials have not requested land in a similar manner either,” he argued.

Shivakumar emphasized that to avoid unnecessary confusion, the government has returned the land in question. He added that any case must be based on adequate and relevant documentation. The Lokayukta has fulfilled its duties, and he urged the BJP to focus on their own battles, mocking them for bringing in lawyers from Delhi to argue their case.

In response to BJP's allegations that the Lokayukta is under the government's influence, he questioned, "Do you know what the Supreme Court ruling is? It directs that any local organization should not be weakened. The High Court has also stated that the Lokayukta is an independent institution." He affirmed that Lokayukta officials will continue their work independently, irrespective of who is in power, and reiterated that appointments would only occur with the Lokayukta's approval, emphasizing the integrity of Karnataka's governance.
