Complaints about delays in single site plan approvals by the Udupi Urban Development Authority (UUDA) have surged, causing difficulties for residents constructing homes and buildings. Responding to these concerns, Udupi-Chikmagalur MP Kota Shrinivas Poojary urged UUDA officials to resolve the backlog within 15 days. He made these remarks while presiding over a meeting at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office in Manipal, addressing issues related to single site approvals and Form 9/11 processes.

Since the responsibility for issuing Form 9/11 shifted from gram panchayats to the authority, unnecessary delays have frustrated applicants. Despite government directives to approve single site plans maintaining a six-metre setback from road edges, thousands of applications remain pending due to administrative negligence. MP Poojary stressed the need to stop middlemen interference immediately and urged officials to alleviate public hardships.

MLA Yashpal Suvarna highlighted that over 11,000 single site approval applications are pending with the UUDA in the district and demanded urgent clearance. MLA Kiran Kumar Kodgi pointed out difficulties faced by applicants from distant areas like Kundapur and Byndoor in visiting the authority frequently, calling for prompt official response. MLA Gurme Suresh Shetty warned that the issue is damaging the reputation of the district administration and elected representatives, urging immediate corrective measures.

Additional Deputy Commissioner Abid Gadyal directed officials to avoid causing inconvenience to applicants traveling from remote areas and to approve applications supported by gram panchayat recommendations without delay.

Udupi City Municipal Council President Prabhakara Poojary, Commissioner J Mahesh, UUDA Chairman Dinakar Heroor, and other officials were present at the meeting.
