More Train Facilities Demanded for Badami Station
BAGALKOT
Members of the Badami Development Struggle Committee have submitted a petition to MP P.C. Gaddigowdar, urging the provision of additional train facilities at the Badami Railway Station, a key stop for tourists visiting historical and religious sites in the region.
The petition noted that tourists frequently arrive at Badami to explore Badami, Pattadakallu, Aihole, and religious centres such as Mahakuta, Banashankari, and Shiva Yoga Mandir. Therefore, the committee stressed the need for more train stoppages and improved facilities at the station.
Key demands include adding a stop for the Yeshwantpur–Bikaner train at Badami, adding coaches to the Vijayapura–Yeshwantpur and Hospet–Mumbai trains, and increasing the frequency of the Hubballi–Varanasi train to twice a week. They also proposed launching a ‘Vande Mataram’ train between Vijayapura and Bengaluru.
Committee Secretary Isthalinga Naregal and other members were present during the petition submission.
