More musical stones discovered near Hampi
Hospet
Just as the stone pillars of the Vittala Mantapa in Hampi are gently tapped, the Vijayanagara Tirugata Research Team has discovered stones that produce musical sounds in the Karekallu hill in Devalapur, near Dharmasagar village in Hospet.
When four or five stone balls in the middle of the Karekallu hill group are tapped with a stone, musical sounds are emitted. Dr Govinda, Dr H Thippeswamy, Dr Govardhan, Dr Krishnagowda, Dr Veeranjaneya, K Veerabhadra Gowda, Ravi, Manju, with the cooperation of Byrappa and Shankar, have discovered these stones.
One of these stones is flat, measuring eight feet high and four feet wide. The sound of music can also be heard from other three round stones next to it. Early humans recognized this musical sound and the marks they made can still be seen today.
Similarly, in Sanganakall, which is already considered a prehistoric site, similar stones emitting musical sounds are also found. However, the stones of this Karakallu hill are very special.
In this Karakallu hill, along with musical stones, most of the stone tablets there have carved images carved by primitive people as a sign of the settlement of primitive people in the period of 3000 BC. In this, there is a particularly beautiful image of a bull, and behind that bull, which is six inches long and four inches wide, there is a human image.
Also, most of the stones of the hill have images of other animals. In particular, the tiger is depicted very beautifully. In addition to these, images of primitive people hunting and tall men have been found carved.
The carved images on other stone tablets have been eroded by wind, rain and sun. Dr Govinda has demanded that these be preserved by the Archaeological Department or the administration.
