The BJP high command has issued an order expelling MLAs ST Somashekar and Shivaram Hebbar for six years following allegations of anti-party activities.

On March 26, Vijayapura MLA Basanagouda Patil Yatnal was expelled for anti-party activities.

Om Pathak, Secretary of   central BJP disciplinary committee, said in an order that ST Somashekhar and Shivaram Hebbar have been expelled for six years for failing to rectify their mistakes despite being warned several times.

Both of these people were previously issued notices for anti-party activities. The expulsion order made it clear that although you have replied to the party's show cause notice, your reply is not satisfactory.

Despite giving you clarification, you kept repeating the mistakes. Therefore, you have been expelled with the aim of maintaining discipline in the party.

ST Somashekar is an MLA from Yeshwantpur constituency in Bengaluru. Shivaram Hebbar is an MLA from Yellapur constituency in Uttara Kannada district. These two MLAs, who won the 2018 and 2023 assembly elections from BJP, had openly identified with the Congress in the wake of the changed political situation. They had stayed away from the party's activities and programmes, including the legislature party meeting. They had ignored the state unit's open warning not to identify with the Congress. Especially in the Rajya Sabha elections, they had openly voted for the Congress candidate, causing great embarrassment to the BJP.

The central BJP leaders, who were closely monitoring all this, had conveyed to the dissidents at the time of the expulsion of Basana Gowda Patil Yatnal that they would take the right decision at the right time.
