Minister Krishna Byre Gowda questioned whether the government should be held accountable for mistakes made by negligent officials, taking a pointed dig at those who failed to take necessary precautions, such as building a retaining wall to prevent landslides.
In Kumta taluk, some residents have faced issues in obtaining pavthi khathas (Fouthi accounts). The minister met with affected locals and sought explanations from the concerned officials.
On Tuesday, he inspected development work at Shirur hill in Ankola taluk, where a landslide during last year’s monsoon had caused significant loss of life. The Minister also pulled up a National Highways Authority of India official for delays in completing road work, accusing him of unnecessarily stalling the project.
