Minister Patil outlines steps for appointment of CMC Commissioner
Haveri
Minister Shivanand Patil, in charge of Textiles, Sugarcane Development, and the district, stressed the need for efficient functioning of the Haveri municipality. Speaking at a progress review meeting, he warned that officers neglecting their duties would face strict action.
He directed officials to answer calls about public issues, conduct regular site visits, and work together to improve services. Expressing dissatisfaction, he questioned poor tax collection, unreported shop rentals, and lack of updates on municipal assets.
“The EST Manager must monitor operations, and action should be taken against staff who fail their duties, including bill collectors,” he said. He warned of an inquiry into the Rs 33 crore UGD project, stating disciplinary steps would follow if faults are found.
Key concerns raised included 24/7 water supply, sewer line maintenance, pump repairs, staff absenteeism, and poor tax recovery. Members also urged shop auctions, proper waste management, and the appointment of a permanent commissioner.
The minister assured all issues would be addressed. CMC President Shashikala Ramu Malagi, Vice President Mallikarjun Satenahalli, DC Dr Vijaymahantesh Danammanavar, and AC Chennappa were present.
