In a recent statement, Law and Tourism Minister HK Patil criticized MP Jagadish Shettar for lacking the moral authority to discuss delays in the implementation of the guarantee schemes. Speaking to reporters, Patil emphasized that during the severe drought in the state, the current government has shown indifference, and when the public had to approach the Supreme Court for relief, Shettar, who was in power at that time, failed to provide any financial assistance.

Patil challenged Shettar to raise questions regarding unfair treatment of Karnataka in the central budget, pointing out that the state only receives 13% back from the taxes it pays. He highlighted the substantial funds allocated to states like Bihar and Uttar Pradesh and stated that only when Shettar raises concerns about such disparities can he be considered a true advocate for Karnataka's interests.

Regarding the guarantee scheme payments, Patil assured that measures were being taken to ensure regular and timely disbursements, similar to monthly salaries. He mentioned that technical issues have caused delays, but it is not a long-term problem. Patil also recalled previous instances of budget transfers that had caused temporary issues for salaried individuals, questioning why they should be concerned over this delay now.

He defended the actions of Deputy Chief Minister Parameshwara, stating that he was following directives from the high command regarding discussions with superiors and that there was nothing wrong with his visit to Delhi.
