May the stampede never happen again: Former cricketer Azharuddin
RAICHUR
“The stampede that took place during RCB's victory celebration in Bengaluru should never happen again. May the souls of those who died in the tragedy rest in peace, and may God give the families the strength to bear the pain,” said former cricketer and former MP Mohammad Azharuddin.
He spoke to the media, having arrived to participate in the city's cricket tournament and the felicitation program for the Waqf Board President and the Guru of the Khaja Bande Nawaz Dargah.
Responding to the issue of RCB being banned from the IPL, he said, “I don't know about that. The IPL Board will take a decision on the incident. The board will take action based on the investigation report.”
“Australian player David Warner's statement that he will not travel on Air India flights is his personal choice. Such incidents happen by accident. Such incidents should not happen anywhere,” he said.
“I came here for the cricket tournament. I didn't get a chance. But I got the opportunity to give awards. Winning and losing are normal in the game. May the runners be the winners next time. May the winners be the runners-up next time,” he hoped.
“I thank Minister Boseraj. I have come to Raichur for the second time, have received a good welcome here. I thank the people. May the Youth Congress do good work and make the party win. May the names of Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi and the elders grow tall. AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge is doing good work even at such an age and is meeting everyone, he added.
Azharuddin posed for a photo with police personnel. Youth Congress leader Ravi Bosaraju was with him.
