Mangaluru-Puttur passenger extension to Subrahmanya gets nod

The 18-year-long struggle of rail passengers in Dakshina Kannada district has finally been won. The Railway Board has approved the extension of the passenger train running from Mangalore to Puttur up to Subrahmanya Road   station.

The decision of the Southern Railway headquartered in Chennai and the South Western Railway headquartered in Hubli in this regard was accepted and a recommendation letter was sent to the Railway Board on November 25, 2024. Now, in an order issued by the Joint Director of the Railway Board, Vivek Kumar Sinha, approval has been given to extend this train up to Subrahmanya Road railway station.

Mangalore Central-Kabaka Puttur-Subrahmanya Road Passenger Train No. 56625 will depart Mangalore Central at 4 am and reach Kabaka-Puttur at 5.18 am. It will halt there for 2 minutes and reach Subrahmanya Road station at 6.30 am.

Subrahmanya-Mangalore Train No. 56626 passenger train will depart from Subrahmanya at 7 am and reach Kabaka-Puttur at 7.48 am, halt there for 2 minutes and reach Mangalore Central at 9.30 am.

Mangalore Central-Subramanya Road Passenger Train No. 56627 will depart Mangalore Central at 5.45 PM and reach Puttur at 7.03 PM. It will then halt for two minutes and reach Subramanya Road at 8.10 PM. Subramanya Road-Mangalore Passenger Train No.56628 will depart Subramanya Road station at 8.40 PM and reach Kabaka-Puttur at 9.28 PM, making two stops there and reaching Mangalore Central at 11.10 PM.

This change will benefit pilgrims coming to Kukke Subrahmanya.

Hundreds of people from areas such as Kodimbal station, Nettana, Edamangala, Kaniyur, and Survey in the Kadaba taluk center will be able to travel to and from Mangalore for their needs at a low fare.
