Let's write a world record by doing yoga by 1.5 lakh people in the City, which is already known as a yoga hub, said MLA SA Ramdas. The Yogathan-2023 Programme was organized under the auspices of District Administration, Zilla Panchayat, Department of Youth Services, Department of AYUSH, Nehru Youth Center, NNS Unit.
Baba Ramdev has already set a world record by making 1 lakh people do yoga in Haridwar, let's invite Baba Ramdev to the city on June 21, 2023 World Yoga Day and set a world record by making 1.5 lakh people do yoga.
It is special that Prime Minister Narendra Modi participated in a yoga program with 35,000 people and the enthusiasm of all of them gathered in spite of such thick fog is inspiring, he said. He said that on this day of Makara Sankranti, when the sun moves from north to south, it is a very favorable day that we all do yoga together in the presence of Mother.
He said that today is the day when very special events happened, the day when Bhishmacharya who was lying on his bed during the Kurukshetra war died and the day when sage Bhagirath brought Ganga to earth is also a very significant day.
Deputy Commissioner Dr KV Rajendra said in introduction that it is a happy thing that such a large number of yoga students have gathered in the midst of such adverse weather. Everyone from the young to the old have gathered, the yogathon was successful even though it was supposed to be held earlier, he said.
Mayor Shivakumar preached the oath to the Yoga aghyasis. Deputy Mayor Roopa Yogeesh, Police Commissioner Ramesh Banoth, Seema Latkar, CEO Purnima, Additional Deputy Commissioner Lokanath, Yoga Federation President Yogeesh were present in the programme.
