The famous Kukke Subrahmanya Temple in Dakshina Kannada district has reported a major rise in its income for the financial year 2024-25. The temple earned ₹155.95 crore, which is ₹9.94 crore more than the previous year’s ₹146.01 crore. This consistent increase confirms its status as the wealthiest temple in Karnataka.
The rise in income is being credited to various factors, including the success of the Shakti Yojana, which has boosted visits to the temple. Kukke Subrahmanya continues to attract large numbers of devotees from Karnataka and nearby states, especially for the performance of special rituals like ‘Sarpa Samskara’. These services contribute significantly to the temple’s annual earnings.
Managed by the Department of Hindu Religious Institutions and Charitable Endowments, the temple plays a central role in the spiritual lives of thousands of pilgrims. Despite the high income, the temple’s expenses have been reported at ₹79.82 crore, showing effective financial management.
Kukke Subrahmanya ranks first among temples in Karnataka in terms of income. It is followed by the Male Mahadeshwara Temple in Chamarajanagar, which reported ₹31 crore, and the Kollur Mookambika Temple, with ₹20 crore.
The growing revenue not only reflects the temple’s popularity but also underlines the important role religious institutions play in the state’s cultural and economic landscape.
