K’taka set to become global manufacturing hub: Minister MB Patil

Industries Minister MB Patil held a meeting with top officials on Monday to discuss the preliminary preparations for the two-day ‘Manufacturing Manthan’ to be held in Bengaluru on May 30 and 31.
The two-day brainstorming session on the vision of developing Karnataka as a ‘global manufacturing hub’ will be attended by CEOs of selected key manufacturing sectors and startups and other top officials.
The session will provide a platform for brainstorming with industry leaders. It will be a roadmap for the state’s investment attractiveness and the development path to be followed by the state in six key manufacturing sectors, Minister MB Patil said.
In this conference, industry leaders will provide appropriate guidance to the state government on the steps to be taken to take the state's achievements to new heights in the sectors of automobile manufacturing, aerospace and defense, electronics system design and manufacturing, heavy machinery, biotechnology, agriculture and food processing.
Principal Secretary of the Industries Department Dr Selvakumar, Commissioner Gunjan Krishna, KIADB CEO Dr Mahesh, Technical Advisor to the Minister Arvind Galgali and others were present in the meeting.
The main objective of this conference is to prepare a sector-wise blueprint for the state government to increase the attractiveness of investment in the state. Officials brought to the notice of the meeting that the industry leaders will prepare a blueprint for the government on the steps to be taken to attract investment in 6 major manufacturing sectors and increase manufacturing activity.
