Karnataka Cooperation Minister K.N. Rajanna addressed the media on Thursday, weighing in on Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar’s aspirations for the Chief Minister’s post and the broader leadership dynamics within the Congress party.
“Let D.K. Shivakumar’s government come in 2028. Why just Chief Minister? Let him even become Prime Minister—who would object?” Rajanna said, acknowledging Shivakumar’s political ambitions.
However, he emphasized that power comes through numbers, and for that, collective leadership is crucial. “No matter who leads, we need enough seats to form the government. Only then will the High Command decide the Chief Minister,” he added.
Rajanna’s remarks reflect the internal discourse in Congress as it eyes the 2028 elections, signaling support for Shivakumar while reinforcing that decisions rest with party leadership and depend on electoral strength and unity.
