In a significant move to support farmers, a meeting was convened at Vidhana Soudha, led by Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Minister K.H. Muniyappa and Housing and Bellary District In-charge Minister Zameer Ahmed Khan. The meeting was attended by a delegation of farmers from Bellary district, who submitted their request for additional procurement support.

The Karnataka government has decided to purchase one lakh metric tonnes (LMT) of jowar directly from farmers across major jowar-growing regions, including Bellary, Raichur, and Vijayanagar districts, during the 2024-2025 period. This purchase will be made through procurement centers under the support price scheme. The price for hybrid jowar has been set at ₹3,371 per quintal, while Maldandi jowar will be priced at ₹3,421 per quintal.

Minister Muniyappa emphasized the importance of registering with designated purchase centers to ensure proper documentation and payments for the crops. Additionally, beneficiaries of the Anna Bhagya Yojana in North Karnataka will receive 3 kg of corn along with 2 kg of rice as part of the ration distribution.

Present at the meeting were Legislative Council member Basanagouda Badarli, Housing Department Secretary Naveen Raj Singh, Food Department Secretary Manoj Jain, and other officials from the Farmers' Association.
