During a cabinet meeting held in Chamarajanagar on Thursday, the Karnataka government passed a resolution strongly condemning the recent terror attack in Pahalgam. The move was confirmed by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah during a press interaction.

"A resolution condemning the incident has been passed in the cabinet meeting and we also expressed our solidarity with the government of India. There is a failure of intelligence in the central government," CM Siddaramaiah stated, pointing to lapses in national security.

Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar also addressed the media, emphasizing the importance of national unity. "We stand by the government because the nation's integrity is very important. Some of them are trying to politicise...We should all maintain peace and no one should politicise this..." he said.

The terrorist attack occurred at Baisaran meadow in Pahalgam, where 25 Indian tourists and one Nepali citizen were killed, with many others injured. This has been described as the deadliest attack in Jammu and Kashmir since the 2019 Pulwama tragedy.

In response, the Indian government has taken stern action against Pakistan. Measures include suspending the Indus Waters Treaty, declaring Pakistani High Commission officials as persona non grata, cancelling visas issued under the SAARC Visa Exemption Scheme, and suspending all visa services for Pakistani nationals effective April 27, 2025.

These decisive steps come after India accused Pakistan of supporting cross-border terrorism. The country has also closed the integrated Attari Check Post and asked Pakistani officials to leave within 48 hours.
