JDS Stages Protest as MLAs Rebel Against Congress Government

BENGALURU:

The JD(S) staged a protest at Freedom Park, accusing the Congress-led Karnataka government of rampant corruption and financial mismanagement. Led by JD(S) city unit president H.M. Ramesh Gowda, the protestors demanded Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s resignation, alleging the government has no funds to support development in assembly constituencies.

Ramesh Gowda said a formal complaint would be lodged with the Governor, asserting that senior Congress MLAs themselves are voicing discontent over administrative failure and the state’s deteriorating fiscal condition. “The government is bankrupt and unable to allocate funds for constituency development, leading to MLAs rebelling. This will eventually cause the government’s downfall,” he warned.

He further alleged widespread economic anarchy, bribery, and misgovernance, claiming that public hardship is growing under the current administration. The JD(S) accused the Congress government of failing across all constituencies.

Among those present at the protest were MLA T.N. Javaraigowda, former MLA K.A. Thippeswamy, JD(S) City Women’s Unit President Shaila Santoji Rao, Minority Wing President Afroz Baig, and Lok Sabha constituency presidents T.R. Tulsiram (South), A.M. Praveen Kumar (North), and Nageshwara Rao (Central). City Working President K.V. Narayanaswamy, General Secretary S. Ramesh, Channenahalli Gram Panchayat member Tara Lokesh, and several leaders from various departments and assembly constituencies also took part.
