Former Chief Minister and Member of Parliament Jagadish Shettar expressed strong condemnation regarding the recent terrorist attack on tourists in Pahalgam, which is believed to be orchestrated by Pakistan-backed militants. He criticized the attack as an attempt to create an atmosphere of fear in the country.
Speaking in Hubballi about the Pahalgam incident, Shettar noted that there had been a period of peace in Jammu and Kashmir in recent times, thanks to the actions taken by Prime Minister Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah. This peace had encouraged more tourists to visit the region.
Shettar emphasized the people's desire for peace in Kashmir, stating, "The nation stands with the family of the deceased. The terrorists will be dealt with decisively." He further asserted that India is growing stronger on the global stage, which Pakistan seems unable to tolerate.
He pointed out that the attack was aimed specifically at targeting Hindus and reinforced the need for a strong response from the government. "Modi is building a robust nation," he added, expressing confidence that the Prime Minister will respond appropriately to such provocations.
Despite claims of a secure environment by tourists, the occurrence of this attack raised concerns. Shettar highlighted that there has been a history of violence in Jammu and Kashmir, asserting that peace had only been established after Modi took office. He reiterated the need to eliminate terrorists and dismantle the base of militancy in Pakistan.
This incident underscores the ongoing challenges of security and stability in the region, with calls for decisive actions against terrorism resonating among political leaders.
