IPS officer D. Roopa transferred to BMTF ADGP post two weeks after promotion
Bengaluru
Just a fortnight after being promoted to the rank of ADGP, IPS officer D. Roopa Moudgil has now been transferred as the Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) of the Bengaluru Metropolitan Task Force (BMTF) by the Karnataka government. The Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms issued the transfer order on Thursday, stating that the decision is effective immediately.
The order clarified that the BMTF ADGP position is equivalent in rank to that of an ADGP. Until now, Roopa was serving as the Managing Director of the Karnataka Silk Marketing Board. Her promotion had come following a directive from the Karnataka High Court, which she had approached seeking the elevation that was due to her as per service norms.
Alongside Roopa, several other senior officers have also been transferred, including IAS officer Rohini Sindhuri. Sindhuri has been shifted from her current role as Secretary to the Department of Agriculture (Food Processing and Post-Harvest Technologies) to the position of Secretary in the Labour Department.
The BMTF has been entrusted with key responsibilities related to public utility and urban governance. These include oversight of assets under agencies like BBMP, BDA, BWSSB, and the Karnataka Slum Development Board. The BMTF also handles the protection of lakes, tanks, and water bodies in Bengaluru Urban and Rural districts, including those under the Forest Department's jurisdiction. Given this, Roopa's new posting is considered significant and responsibility-laden.
In another major administrative move, IAS officer Akram Pasha has been appointed as the Managing Director of KSRTC with immediate effect, according to the personnel department’s update.
