CHITRADURGA — Zilla Panchayat Deputy Secretary Dr. Ranganath urged government officials, staff, and the public to join the mass yoga practice on June 21 in celebration of the 11th International Yoga Day. Speaking at a preparatory meeting, he emphasized the importance of yoga for health, especially for government employees who work under constant pressure.

The event will be held at the old secondary school premises in the city, with over 2,000 yoga enthusiasts expected to participate in a session from 7:00 am to 7:45 am, followed by a stage programme. Dr. Ranganath called on all district officials and people’s representatives to actively participate.

He instructed the city council to ensure the grounds are cleaned and the AYUSH department to arrange mats, prepare the venue, and provide clean drinking water and breakfast for participants. Additionally, toilets at nearby government offices and schools should be cleaned to avoid inconvenience.

For safety, ambulances and fire engines will be on standby during the event. Ahead of the main day, a large awareness rally is scheduled for June 19 to promote the benefits of yoga among the community.

District AYUSH Officer Dr. Chandrakath Nagasamudra, Deputy Director of Women and Children Department Bharathi Bankar, District Labour Officer Balachandra Bagati, and other officials attended the meeting, highlighting the collaborative efforts for a successful International Yoga Day celebration.
