KPCC Vice President H Anjaneya has called on the government to avoid any further extension of the review period for the Scheduled Castes census related to internal reservation implementation. He urged the government to accept the report promptly, convene a special session, and ensure internal reservation is enacted by July 10.

The survey, which started on May 5, is ongoing in phases and is scheduled to conclude by June 22. Over 90 percent of the census has been completed statewide. However, only around 50 percent has been done within Bengaluru city limits, sparking discussions about extending the deadline. Anjaneya emphasized that the survey must be completed within the current timeframe to avoid delays in implementing internal reservation.

He highlighted that despite extensive campaigns encouraging participation, some people opted out of the online survey—around 12,000 statewide—due to the time required to complete the forms. Efforts are underway to contact those who partially completed the survey to finish it.

Anjaneya also pointed out that progress has been hindered in Bengaluru due to a shortage of government school teachers and negligence by BBMP staff in conducting the survey effectively. Awareness campaigns are ongoing to motivate voluntary participation. He demanded the government accept the census report soon, formulate the necessary law, and implement internal reservation without any further delays.
