While visiting the Shringeri Mutt, on Saturday Karnataka's Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar addressed the media, asserting, "I don’t need any support from anyone; I will work as the party instructs. I do not want any MLA to pressure me on my behalf."
Referring to the famous verse "Karmanyevadhikaraste ma phaleshu kadachana," he emphasized, "Let us focus on our efforts, and leave the results to the divine." He acknowledged that there are party workers demanding that he should be the next Chief Minister, but he reiterated that no MLA should feel the need to back him in this matter. "I exist because the Congress party exists. I will proceed as per the instructions from the party leaders. I will fulfill my duties without any urgings from MLAs or party workers," he stated.
Shivakumar expressed his personal devotion, saying, "I am a person of faith who performs daily rituals. I pray for my welfare, the state's welfare, and the welfare of those who believe in me and society at large." He asserted, "If you choose to interpret this as a ‘Temple Run,’ then you all should shut down the temples. There is a Muzarai department and a Waqf board in the government for a reason. Each person’s beliefs are their own. While religious philosophies may differ, devotion remains the same. I always say that there is one God, albeit many names."
Regarding the future, Shivakumar said, "There’s no need for anyone to worry. I don’t require any turning point. The people have blessed us with an opportunity. We will govern for five years. The Chief Minister and I will work as directed by the party. Others' opinions hold little significance."
