House of accused in contractor Shivanand murder case set on fire

Following the brutal murder of contractor Shivananda Kunnura on the outskirts of Shiggaavi town in the district, the house of the accused in the case was set on fire on Tuesday night.

The house of Nagaraj Savadatti, one of the five accused in the murder case, was set on fire. It has been alleged that the contractor Shivanand's family set the fire in retaliation. The house near Ambedkar Circle in Shiggaon town was completely burnt down. Firefighters rushed to the spot and doused the fire. There were no deaths or injuries as there was no one in the house.

Shivananda Kunnur (40), a first-class contractor, was hacked to death with deadly weapons near Gangibhavi Cross on the outskirts of Shiggaon town on Tuesday. The video of the murder went viral. Based on it, Shivananda's wife had filed a complaint against five people at the Shiggaon police station. Based on the complaint, a case has been registered against Nagaraj Savadatti, Hanumantha, Ashraf, Sudeep and Suresh. The complaint alleges that the murder took place due to a dispute over property.

As a precautionary measure, tight police security has been taken in Shiggaon town in view of the possibility of retaliation against the remaining four accused in the case. More than 20 police personnel, including five CPI, 7 PSI, 2 DR vehicles, have been deployed. Police sources said that three teams have been formed to arrest the accused.
