Home Minister G Parameshwara addressed the Pahalgam incident, stating that over-commenting on the matter is not productive. Speaking at his residence in Sadashivanagar, he emphasized that continuous speculation and conflicting statements could undermine the significance of the issue. "It is not appropriate for anyone to overreact," he said, stressing the collective responsibility of maintaining national security.
Parameshwara highlighted that the party in power has the authority to make decisions, and all must act responsibly. He reiterated that Congress, during an all-party meeting in Delhi, made it clear that the Pahalgam incident would not be tolerated. He also defended the Congress party’s long history of sacrifices for the nation’s security, asserting, "No one else can match the sacrifices Congress has made."
Addressing concerns about the high command’s warning regarding public statements, Parameshwara emphasized that security issues must be handled impartially. He assured that the Congress party would fully cooperate with any decisions made by the central government for the nation’s security, reaffirming, "The AICC has officially stated that the Congress party stands with you on security issues."
