BELAGAVI

The water level of the Hiranyakeshi River, flowing through Sankeshwar town, is rising due to heavy rains in the Western Ghats. Hukkeri Tahsildar Manjula Naik, Deputy Tahsildar KA Patil, Sankeshwar Municipality Chief Officer Prakash Math, and municipal staff inspected both riverbanks to monitor the situation.

Authorities have decided to take preventive measures to stop people from approaching the river. If the water level continues to rise, plans are in place to relocate residents from the town’s Matha area and riverside streets to safer locations. The administration remains alert and is closely monitoring the river to ensure public safety amid the ongoing rains.
