Heavy rain lashed various parts of Bislur on Saturday. The old bridge in Fatehpur village near Varunarbhata was washed away, cutting off road connectivity.

A large amount of water has flowed into the creek in Fatehpur village and washed away the old bridge. The work on the new bridge is underway and is not yet complete. This has cut off the road connection to the village. Also, a tipper truck has got stuck in the creek due to the rush of water. The driver stopped the tipper halfway as the water flow increased in the middle of the old bridge.

A cow died on the spot after being struck by lightning in Ulakabandi Tanda near Kyadigera in Devdurga taluk of the district on Saturday evening. The cow belonged to a farmer named Lachampappa Umalappa of the village. The farmer suffered a loss of more than Rs 50,000. It rained heavily while he was on the farm. The lightning struck at this time.

Revenue Department and Gram Panchayat officials visited the scene and inspected it. The incident took place within the jurisdiction of Devadurga Police Station.
