Grand procession marks Dornahalli Church Car Festival

The grand annual feast and chariot procession (Teru) of St. Anthony’s Basilica at the famous Dornahalli Church in the taluk was held with great grandeur in the presence of thousands of devotees in K R Nagar in Mysuru district.

The celebrations began at 10 a.m. with a solemn festive Mass officiated by Dr. Bernard Moras, Administrator of the Diocese of Mysuru.

The ritual mass and offerings were conducted by various religious leaders including Fr. David Sagayaraj of Dornahalli Church, Fr. Robert Gregory Montero from the Archdiocese of Kolkata, Fr. Sebastian Alexander, Treasurer of the Mysuru Diocese, Fr. Rohan from Yadavagiri, Fr. Valentine Rajendra Kumar from Bogadi, Fr. Oswald Crasta, Rector of Mysuru, Fr. Mari Raj from Mandya, Fr. R. Arogya Swamy from Srirampura, and Fr. Yesu Prasad, Assistant Treasurer of the Mysuru Diocese.

Later, at 7 p.m., the majestic chariot procession of St. Anthony began in front of the church amidst a sea of devotees. The event was led by Fr. Praveen Pedru, Administrator of St. Anthony's Basilica, and Fr. David Sagayaraj.

Devotees from various parts of the state gathered for this historic and highly revered annual feast. They participated in the mass and witnessed the grand darshan of St. Anthony.

K.R. Nagar Police ensured appropriate security arrangements for the peaceful conduct of the festival.
