FIR against protesters is reprehensible: C.T. Ravi
Mysuru
Filing FIRs against protestors opposing the Hemavathi Link Canal is highly condemnable, said senior BJP leader and MLC C.T. Ravi.
Speaking to reporters here, he said that meetings regarding the project should have been held with the confidence of local people and public representatives. The project must be reviewed. “How can one say that protests shouldn’t be held? This government should not act like autocrats".
Ravi said there are many problems within the KPSC (Karnataka Public Service Commission) and issues are arising due to appointments based on caste, under certain quotas. Those who are in helmet of affairs must give attention in this regard. “There are still three years left for the incumbent Congress government led by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah but they’ve already started counting down the days.
Regarding the Mangaluru riots, the MLC said the Congress leaders have accused BJP and RSS for the Mangaluru incidents without evidence. “Was RSS responsible for the killings of Suhas Shetty and BJP worker Praveen Nettaru? Do communal riots only happen where Hindus live? Has this government forgotten that it was the BJP that opposed the implementation of Ghazwa-e-Hind in Kashmir?” “It looks like they are trying to turn Mangaluru in the South into another Kashmir. If that’s the case, is RSS responsible for all communal violence around the world?” he questioned.
On alleged scams in the Minorities Welfare Department, Ravi said the contract for the construction of the department's compound wall was given to a single person without inviting tenders. “If an investigation is conducted, the truth will come out. In this government, scandals in MUDA (Mysuru Urban Development Authority) and the Valmiki Corporation are being treated as awards.
He accused the government of transferring officials involved in scandals after suspending them. “They once accused our government of being 40 per cent commission-based. But this one is hitting 69 per cent commission. Someday, it’ll reach 100 per cent. This shows how corrupt is the Congress government.
The BJP MLC said in the past two years, prices have increased. In the next three years, they will see how much more they rise. That’s why the state does not need the Congress.
Regarding multi-lingual Kamal Haasan’s alleged anti-Kannada remark, Ravi said, Kamal is not a language expert. He spoke out of partial knowledge. If he claims Kannada came from Tamil, it only shows his ignorance.
