HAVERI

Tension prevailed in Havanur village after a crowd of farmers overwhelmed the Multipurpose Primary Rural Agricultural Cooperative Society following the arrival of 330 bags of urea.

As distribution began with two bags per farmer, angry farmers protested, demanding the earlier allotment of 5–10 bags. With over 400 farmers in the queue and insufficient stock, arguments escalated into physical confrontations. The staff fled the office, and police were called in to control the situation.

Despite police attempts to calm the crowd, pushing and shoving ensued.

Farmers blocked the association entrance, demanding more urea. After hours of protest and standing in the rain, distribution resumed under PSI Basavanagouda Biradara's supervision, with just one bag per person.

Assistant Agriculture Director BH Veerabhadrappa urged patience, assuring additional urea supply soon.
