Farmers and BJP leaders staged a major protest in Mannaekhelli village of Humnabad taluk on Thursday, alleging a severe shortage of fertilizers in the state. The protest, led by the BJP Mandal of Bidar South constituency, saw an angry crowd marching from Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Circle to Basaveshwara Circle, where they blocked the road to express their outrage.

The protesters accused the state government of mismanaging fertilizer distribution and misleading farmers. They claimed that while the central government had supplied 8.70 lakh metric tons of urea to Karnataka, only 5.25 lakh metric tons were currently available in the market. “What happened to the remaining 2.50 lakh metric tons?” the leaders questioned, demanding an immediate clarification.

Following the protest, BJP leaders submitted a memorandum addressed to the Governor through the staff at the Tahsildar's office.

BJP Mandal President Gurunath Rajgira criticized the sharp hike in electricity connection charges for agricultural pump sets. “Earlier, it cost Rs 25,000. Now it’s Rs 3 lakh. The state government must withdraw this hike and provide relief to farmers,” he said.

Leaders Shakuntala Beldale, Rajaraddy Shabadakar, Hemma Tukkareddy, Manikappa Khashampur, Santosh Nidavanchi, Santosh Reddy Avandor, Gundappa Bhodera, Jagannath Jamadar, and several others participated in the protest.
