Experimental success of new toor dal crop

A new variety has been developed with the aim of growing lentil in a very short period of time during the summer and making farmers financially strong, and it has been piloted for the first time in district.

A new variety has been developed by the International Crops Research Institute for Semi-Arid Tropics, Hyderabad, on the farm of Mirji near Bantanur village near Kaladagi in the district.

A Thogari field festival meeting was held in collaboration with the Karnataka State Seed Corporation Limited, Bangalore and the International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics, Hyderabad, to create awareness among farmers about the new variety.

It has been experimentally successful in district on a three-acre plot of land.

On this occasion, Dr. Himanshu Pathak, Director General of the organization, said, preparations have been made to grow this togari crop only in summer. Sugarcane is grown in abundance in this area, and togari can be grown after harvesting sugarcane. It will be harvested in just 120 days. Our scientists will further develop it after knowing its pros and cons.

At the same time, Agricultural University Vice Chancellor Dr PL Patil said, the largest amount of sugarcane is grown in Bagalkot district. A new variety of rice crop has been researched to row in the summer after sugarcane crop. Farmers can take advantage of this and develop economically.

Dr Vijendra Sangama, Head of Research at Dharwad Seed Corporation, spoke and provided information about the properties and uses of the summer-grown togari crop.
