Kolar
In a significant development following numerous allegations, controversies, and intense negotiations, elections for the Kolar District Cooperative Milk Producers' Union (KOMUL) have been scheduled for June 25. This announcement comes as a relief to those awaiting clarity on the electoral process for the dairy cooperative.
Deputy Commissioner and Federal Cooperative Societies District Election Officer M.R. Ravi has issued a notification regarding the elections. Voting will take place on June 25 from 9 AM to 4 PM, with ballot counting and results to be announced shortly after, as mentioned in the official announcement.
This election is poised to reignite activity within the dairy union, as preparations and campaigning pick up pace in anticipation of the voting day. A total of 13 director positions will be contested, including the election of two women directors. There are 982 eligible voters, including delegates from various taluks who will take part in the election process.
In the previous election, there were also 13 director positions; however, that election included representatives from the Chikkaballapura district. During that time, both Kolar and Chikkaballapura districts had one female director each. This time, the election will include three director constituencies from Kolar taluk, increasing political interest and involvement from local leaders, including politicians eyeing the director positions.
The dates for the nomination submission and the list of delegates eligible to vote will be announced shortly. According to Rule 14 of the Cooperative Societies Act of 1960, the election process will commence on June 25.
