The historic Bathi Lake, which is located on the Davangere-Harihar route, will become a tourist destination for tourists and travelers. The Davangere-Harihar Urban Development Authority (DUDA) is planning to give a touch of a tourist destination to this lake, which is spread over an area of 73 acres. Approval has been received from the Lake Development Authority for the development of the lake, and 15 crores have been allocated. Tenders will be called in a few days and the work will start.
DUDA has prepared to undertake work at a cost of Rs 9.33 crore with a grant of Rs 15 crore. It has received approval from the government to start the work. After it becomes a tourist destination, we will decide in the coming days whether to issue tickets to tourists visiting this lake or not, said DUDA Commissioner Thimmanna Soumani.The Rs 12 crore collected as lake cess from private developments being developed in the twin cities of Davangere and Harihar remained as it is.
The DUDA Commissioner said that a lot of work will be done to enhance the beautification of the lake. DUDA Commissioner Thimmanna Sulmani said, “We are going to develop the lake at a cost of 15 crores. We have already undertaken the work at a cost of 9.33 crores. We will beautify the lake. We will develop two lakes. We will raise the height of the lake and arrange a beautiful walking path and grill. There will be around 700 lighting poles on both sides of the walking path. We have taken up this work after getting approval from the Lake Development Authority. Boating arrangements will be made during the second phase of the work at a cost of the remaining five crores.”
