Dr D Veerendra Heggade on Yoga and Naturopathy

MANGALURU: People have now gained faith and confidence in our country's ancient traditional healing system, Yoga and Naturopathy, said Dharmasthala's Dharmadhikari D Veerendra Heggade.
He was speaking while presiding over the Third International Conference on Yoga and Naturopathy organised at SDM Naturopathy and Yoga Science College in Ujire.
“The country's first SDM Naturopathy and Yoga Science Graduate College was started in Ujire and a Naturopathy Hospital was started at Shantivana in Dharmasthala, and now people have gained faith in the drug-free healing system,” he said.
Inaugurating the conference, Dr HR Nagendra, Vice Chancellor of S Vyas University, Bengaluru, said that due to lack of information, modern lifestyle and food and recreation methods, people today fall prey to terrible diseases such as blood pressure, diabetes, cancer, AIDS. He suggested that a holistic treatment system should be implemented to cure diseases by applying allopathy, ancient traditional medicine and the results of modern research. He opined that yoga and naturopathy can increase the body's immunity and achieve good health.
MP Brijesh Chowta said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, yoga and naturopathy are becoming popular everywhere. “This is being given special encouragement through the AYUSH Department. There is a plan to open a traditional centre in Dakshina Kannada under the auspices of the AYUSH Department,” he added. He sought the guidance and cooperation of Heggade in this regard.
Dr. KV Naveen, Dr Babu Joseph, Dr Manjunath, SDM Educational Institutions Secretary, D Harshendra Kumar, Principal of Naturopathy and Yoga Science College Dr Prashanth Shetty, SDM Educational Institutions Secretary Prof S Satishchandra and Shantivana Chief Medical Officer Dr Shivaprasad Shetty were present.
