D.K. Suresh, a prominent political figure, has been elected as the new President of the Bengaluru Milk Union Limited (BAMUL). His selection by the union members and elected representatives was met with celebration from his supporters, who distributed sweets. This appointment marks a significant political comeback for Suresh, who had experienced a setback after his defeat in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections from the Bengaluru Rural constituency, leading to a period of relative quiet.

Following his election, D.K. Suresh addressed the media, expressing gratitude and commitment. "Farmers and cooperative societies have placed their trust in me," he stated. "I will uphold the faith farmers have placed in me. In this presidential role, I will work to benefit the farmers."

Suresh emphasized his immediate priorities, stating, "I will give more attention to the development of dairy farming. I will discuss with the government and work towards benefiting the farmers. I congratulate everyone who has elected me."

BAMUL comprises a total of 14 directors, with 11 of them being Congress-backed. D.K. Suresh had previously been elected unopposed as a director. He then contested for the president's position from his director's seat, submitting his nomination papers at the Bengaluru Dairy Circle office.

The BAMUL director elections were held on May 25. Given the Congress's majority of director positions within BAMUL, D.K. Suresh's elevation to the president's post was widely anticipated. His official selection as president today confirms these expectations, positioning him once again in a key leadership role within the state's cooperative sector.
