Facing increasing demands for his removal as the Karnataka Congress chief, Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar made a statement on Thursday emphasizing the party's resilience, regardless of who stays or leaves. He stressed that the Congress party's success was a collective effort and not solely dependent on any individual, including himself. "This party has grown through the hard work and trust of its workers and voters. We must protect that trust," he said, urging party leaders to focus on the party's welfare rather than airing grievances publicly.

Shivakumar referenced historical figures like Mahatma Gandhi and Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, who, despite their significant contributions, did not seek positions of power, highlighting that the party's future should be prioritized over personal ambitions.

When asked about recent statements by Minister Satish Jarkiholi calling for a full-time KPCC president, Shivakumar deferred to AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge, emphasizing that internal party matters should be addressed within the leadership. He reiterated that KPCC positions are not awarded through media discussions.

Shivakumar also addressed ongoing infighting within the party, especially related to power dynamics between his camp and Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s supporters. He issued a warning to those fueling the division, asserting that the party should focus on organizing and growing, rather than internal conflicts.
