To ensure the safety of bank customers and staff, Deputy Commissioner Gurudatta Hegde emphasized the need for proper safety measures in all banks across the district.

While presiding over a District Level Safety Committee meeting with local bank officials, Hegde outlined several key safety protocols. "All necessary safety measures including installation of CCTV, alarm bells, deployment of security personnel, and police patrols should be taken in all banks in the district," he said.

The district is home to 358 banks, 435 ATMs, and five currency chests, and Hegde stressed that all banks and currency chests must adhere to RBI guidelines, ensuring that CCTV, sirens, and fire extinguishers are installed and functional. "Stag rooms should be maintained with alarm bells and other safety measures," he added. For money transfers, he recommended deploying police for security.

Hegde also emphasized that ATMs should be equipped with the necessary safety features, and ATM rooms should be designed for maximum security. He noted that cash loading and unloading should only be done in front of authorized personnel, and information boards inside ATMs should warn customers of potential fraud.

Lead Bank Manager Chandrashekhar and ASP Anil Kumar Bhumaraddy were present at the meeting, along with officials from various banks.

DySP of Cyber Division Krishnamurthy raised concerns about delays in assisting cybercrime victims, particularly due to banks’ slow cooperation in providing required documents.
