Children with disabilities are God's children. Because God has given them special knowledge and spirit, said Zilla Panchayat Deputy Secretary Mallikarjuna Todalabagi.
He spoke while inaugurating the World Disabled Day which was organized on Saturday at Saint Thomas Community Bhawan in collaboration with various voluntary organizations working for the career development of the differently abled in the district, District Administration, Zilla Panchayat, Department of Women and Child Development, Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities and Senior Citizens, Department of Youth Empowerment and Sports.
These gifted children have a special power of thinking, memory and so on. They are extraordinary. and are industrious. He explained to the students the real incidents of special minds who achieved success as success is built on hard work and effort.
Deputy Director of Women and Child Welfare Department GG Suresh said that this day is an opportunity to showcase the talent of special minds. When the opportunity arises, use it to succeed. It is a joy to see gifted children. The teachers are also giving them good guidance, he said.
Shilpa M Doddamani, District Disabled and Senior Citizens Welfare Officer, spoke in introduction, facilities are being provided to 21 different types of disabled under various schemes. There are a total of 21,694 persons with disabilities in the district and 16,336 UDID cards have been distributed. In the year 2021-22, all students with disabilities have been given scholarships and incentives. Equipment distributed to 301 beneficiaries. Talking laptop to 12 people, rural rehabilitation to 226 people, motorized vehicle to 42 people, marriage incentive fund to 24 people. 04 special schools and Surabhi Hostel are functioning in the district. He informed that Senior Citizens Helpline Center, Handicapped Helpline Centers, MRW, VRW are functioning.
Prizes were distributed to the winners of cultural and sports competitions in the program and Pushpamma, Kempamma, Prema, Mahantesha Rao and Hemavathy were felicitated for their services in the field of the differently abled.
