Currently, nine Namma Clinic centers are functioning in the district, two each in Hubli and Dharwad, and one each in Kalaghatagi, Navalgund, Kundgol, Alnavar and Annigeri.

Now, the govt has decided to start seven new ‘Namma Clinics' in Hubballi and two in Dharwad, which will soon provide services to people.

Our new clinics will be opened in Navalur and Malapur in Dharwad and in Tarihal, Gopanakoppa, Mantur Road, Mehboobnagar, New Medara Oni, Vaddara Oni, and Aralikkatti Oni in Hubli, said District Health Officer Dr SM Honakeri.

A building has been constructed for Namma Clinic at a cost of Rs 4.5 crore under the Smart City project in New Medara Oni, Hubballi. The remaining Namma Clinics will be started in their own buildings if government provides funds, otherwise in rented buildings, the officer said.

Currently, one primary health centre is functioning for every 50,000 population in the twin cities. ‘Namma Clinics' are being started near primary health centres in rural areas with a population of more than 30,000 and in areas with a population of more than 60,000. Namma Clinic provides comprehensive primary health care services to people living in urban and rural areas.

Namma Clinic concept was launched during the BJP rule in the state in 2022 with an aim of providing primary healthcare services to vulnerable sections of society, especially slum dwellers, daily wage workers, and other economically weaker sections of society.

The officer said that elderly care, emergency medical services, health check-ups, and medicines will be completely free. Fourteen lab tests, teleconsultation services, and wellness activities will also be available free of cost at Namma Clinics.
